Unintended Consequences of 30.06/07 Postings

Post by LSUTiger »

There has been much debate over the unintended consequences of OC as it relates to new 30.06 postings.

No matter what you think of either CC or OC, I think we should have a thread that addresses the practical unintended consequences of posting 30.06 and perhaps 30.07 as well. Perhaps the discussion will educate outsiders who have been frequenting the forum.

Unintended consequences of posting 30.06/7:

1. The creation of gun free zones or the perception of gun free zones, making some people feel safe (to pander to the ignorant hoplophobes, the PC and the antis) but actually making all less safe.

2. Inviting criminals to commit crime: Against both the business and those customers who are unarmed inside and also increased theft of guns left in vehicles. More guns stolen and in the hands of criminals.

(Criminals target gun free zones, and further more If I was a criminal, I would monitor parking lots for all the LTCers who walk up to an establishment and then turn around to walk back to their vehicles to disarm. Then I'd know which vehicles to break into to get guns. Easier to smash and grab than risk confronting a possible CC or OC)

3. Unarming those who have been vetted by the LTC process and have the best chance of protecting not only themselves but perhaps others as well.

Should crime increase, the antis will say "see since the implementation of OC crime has risen" when in fact it will be because of increased 30.06/07 postings. Not LTCers commiting crimes. Classic example of correlation does not equal causation.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?
