Ironic craziness.

Post by zatoman »

Went to Whataburger today. I had heard that they do not allow open carry, but they had no 30.07 sign in the window. Went to Whole Foods last week. I had heard that they do not allow open carry or concealed carry, but they had no 30.07 or 30.06 sign. Went to the gun range (Athena Gun Club) and they did have a 30.07 sign. Went to a gun store (Carter's Country) and they required that open carry guns be unloaded. Liberal stores are easier on pro 2A types than are businesses that exist to service 2A types. Very weird.

None. I don't open carry. They probably would have told me to leave, but at least they didn't post a 30.07 sign like the gun range did. Geesh.

Whole Foods is 30.07, they don't have a "sign". It's hard to see light gray print on the glass windows. You would not know what it said unless you walked up, squinted real hard and read it.

What location was not posted? I am in the food distribution business and have been to probably 6 WF locations this week. All were posted 30.07.

I was at Athena yesterday. Did not see a 30.07, but then again I was not looking for one or paying attention.

WF was 701 Waugh Dr. Athena 30.07 is about 4 yards right of the front door.

That Whole Foods is also listed on texas3006.com as being posted 30.06 on the front doors...

Didn't see it, and I looked.

Athena is the closest range to my work, and I have been there once. I strongly prefer Memorial Shooting Center just down the street. Athena feels more like a Starbucks than a gun range to me.

Memorial just asks you to keep your weapon in the holster until you are on the range.

I like Athena, but your Starbucks comparison is spot on!

People--not us of course--do stupid and therefore dangerous stuff in gun stores and ranges far too often. Staff has the safety of their customers to worry about, their own skins, and liability & financial survival to add to the grey hairs.

I may not agree with the rules or how some safety issues are addressed, but I understand why some seemingly contrarian rules exist.

Just look up at any public indoor range.

I prefer that approach. It's humorous about a serious subject. I'll be running a couple of folks through the LTC course of fire tomorrow at Shiloh.

The boutique ranges won't be posting those kinds of signs. Course, I don't typically shoot at them either  .

If the gun ranges and stores could trust people to keep the guns holstered, they probably wouldn't need the signs. I am not sure how you could convince them to change their policy. They probably have plenty of experience with people carrying in loaded guns or pulling concealed guns out and pointing them every which way. Every time I have heard gun store workers talk about safety, it is always mentioned.

The gun range I have a membership in does not allow drawing from a holster at the range outside specific events. That carried over to a 30.07 sign. I understand their reasoning, but I know many members don't like it. However, the cost of membership is cheap and I don't want liability to cause an increase.
