We were headed to the Houston Galleria tonight and remember that the media had stories that Simon interest who ownes the Gallaria were going to ban all carry.
I searched Texas3006 site and did not see any postings. I was still fully expecting some type of posting but did not see any signs entering from the underground parking so good news.

I work in an office building by the Galleria. Most days I go take a walk around the mall at lunch. I never go into the main entrance off Westheimer, but I have gone into other entrances and have never seen a 06/07 sign.

I also office out of one of the semi-attached buildings there. I always enter through the skywalk near the bank (where Hallmark USED to be.) The only signs I've ever seen regarding weapons are posted at the entrances along with all the "rules of conduct" signs...and they simply state that weapons are not allowed on the property. Those were in the area between the glass doors entering to the 2700 Post Oak side of Nieman's.

Nothing that even begins to approach 30.06 or 30.07 wording or form.

I don't go to my office but about once a month now, and have only been there once in 2016. I was looking for signage changes, but not actively seeking anything out.

I personally wouldn't carry openly there because I would fully expect an oral notification, but I don't think doing so would violate any laws as currently documented.

Just a fair warning that the term carries a stigma among some groups. I'm not a card carrying member of the PC police, but I'd expect the term could have negative consequences, especially at work. It can be viewed as a pejoratively racist term, and a quick Google search shows that some of the people using it fall into that category.

I am definitely not accusing Papa_Tiger of using it in this way (nor do I necessarily agree with this connotation), but I would want to have a similar heads up if somebody knew that a term might be offensive or is being coopted by an offensive group.

My understanding from Simon is that they refuse to post signs and that their policy stands. In other words, the lawyers have everyone giving canned responses and could care less about what the actual law requires.

Here is what they told me, even when asked about the requirement for signage...
"We do not allow possession of any weapon on our property, whether concealed or displayed openly, other than licensed weapons carried by law enforcement personnel."

The first time I heard/read it was a yesterday in an article where it was used pejoratively. It took me a bit to figure out exactly what was meant by it, but once I figured it out, I could see the etymology. Definitely not something that I would put into my vocabulary, just pointing out the etymology as the question was asked.

The Galleria's General Manager Greg Noble released the following statement:

"As a private property owner, Simon will continue to enforce its existing policy of not allowing possession of any weapon on its property whether concealed or displayed openly, other than licensed weapons carried by law enforcement personnel. Once the law goes into effect, any shopper in possession of a weapon will be individually notified of Simon's existing policy by a member of the security or management team and asked to comply."
