From Staff Reports

SMU beefed up security on Monday as a precaution after a threat to “shoot up the school was discovered scrawled on a classroom chair.

The threat was discovered in a Hyer Hall classroom on April 23. The message said the incident would occur “8-6-07, which officials interpreted as June 8 or Aug. 6.

The threat is considered “low, said Kent Best, a university spokesman. Various meetings were being held on campus this week, but the school’s fall semester begins Aug. 23.

The university was asking visitors and personnel on campus to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police at 214-768-3333 or call 911.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.
