Multiple Guns for OC What is legal?

Post by fast86gn »

One of my employees asked me this question and I didn't know the answer. How many guns could you carry at one time? One on each hip maybe? Not that I would... one is plenty but just curious.

As long as they are holstered as many as you can carry? lol Which would be silly but I guess two you might see? One on each hip has anyone done this or seen this? Is it legal?

The law does not specify the number of handguns that may be carried by a person.
There have been few reports of open carry of one handgun let alone two or more. :tiphat:

The law doesn't state how many / what type of firearms may be carried, only how they are to be carried in the case of open carry. In the case of concealed carry, even that is not present.

The way I read the code, someone with a gun on each hip would be legal as long as they are following the allowed carry method of a "belt holster".

Depends on how many belt or shoulder holsters you can wear at one time.
Chance favors the prepared. Making good people helpless doesn't make bad people harmless.
There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Same as CC...as many as you can hide. OC as many belt or shoulder holsters as you can carry.

Interesting concept ..... shoulder rig with twin 1911's

Theoretically, it would be quite a large number of guns. Picture a custom made belt holster that has multiple slots to slide guns in a vertical fashion effectively cascading down one's leg. Then picture these holsters taking up every available inch of belt real estate.

Of course, practical considerations like being able to handle the sheer weight and still move, would limit the theoretical maximum.

"Where do you carry? Appendix? 3 o'clock? 4 o'clock?"

"Well, I carry the LCP in my front right pocket; the P238 in the front left. The Nano is appendix, in the same holster with the LC9 at 2:30, in the same holster with the G26 at about 3:30, in the same holster with the M&P at 6 o'clock, in the same holster with.............."

Or this scenario.

"Son, are you carrying a gun?"

"Why of course not officer. I would never carry A gun. I always have at least 10 on me."

I figure the girls got it over us guys, in this case.

One on each shoulder, one on each hip, and a flash-bang in between.
