Some weeks back I was involved in a single vehicle motorcycle accident due to part failure. 70mph highside on 190 just outside cove.. my EDC, holster, belt and Benchmade 154CM also took a beating

I contacted Benchmade customer service to see if they had repair parts I could buy to replace the sheared screws and damaged clip.
I was told NO I could not buy them..................but if i gave her my shipping address they would send what I needed
That was a few days ago... in today's mail I received a padded envelope, with not just 3 screws and a clip needed.. but two SETS of screws for the knife and two clips.
While I Realize it's just pennies to them on the marketing and production side of things it was a HUGE thing to me to be treated like a valued customer, quickly, fairly and with a level of service rarely seen in today's market.
Quick disassembly, and 15 min in the sonic tank to rid the knife of the dirt it gathered while sliding across the ground at my side

Installed the clip reversed from my normal carry mode as one screw sheared off in the body of the knife, drilling it out damaged the threads. I ordered a stainless steel thread coil repair set and will install new threads once it arrives then return the clip to its normal position.. But until then I have my every day carry knife back in the front right pocket where it belongs.

I am a fan of Benchmade although at this time I do not own one, but my next knife purchase is going to be the Adamas fixed blade. One of the adult leaders in my son's Boy Scout troop has a benchmade that he had me do a paracord handle wrap, and it came out great. I like the fact that all of their high end knives are made of D2 steel and I have heard other reports about their great customer service.

Glad that you came through the accident without having to have any of your parts replaced.

I shoot RH and carry my 154 LF Pocket.

I understand where your going with the question.....
Reality for me is, I use that knife often as a tool and that is its primary purpose so it is carried on my right side as I am right handed.

For me, I would draw the knife defensively with my right hand when the gun was empty or gone, and that would best be done with my right hand.
My off hand has a BUG available and the only reason I'm liable to draw that is injury to right hand, gun empty or lost right hand/arm defending, controlling and creating a gap between attacker and me.
So for me and my many years of training plus common use of an edged weapon.. right hand dominate side is best.

Mostly ambidextrous here. Can shoot a rifle or a pistol as well left handed as otherwise. just a tad slower.

Left side for using right hand to control if a grab is made.

My son recently acquired a nice Benchmade knife. It seems really well made, and the way the blade flicks open so easily is pretty nice. I'd like one like his, but $190-$200 is just more than a pocket knife is worth to me. Sure is nice though. I'm also glad that I'm no longer paying for my son's expensive tastes.

He got banged up a bit, but only enough to remind him that youth is not eternal.

Btw, his XD also has some flat spots that weren't put there by the manufacturer. But given how and where the accident happened, and the speeds involved, E.Marquez proved the old Army dictum that CSMs are not to be trifled with.
