Especially the chapter "The Human Target".

Some pretty good info in there for those who would actually sit down and read it heh.

The way I read this is that penetration is the primary factor and is more important than bullet diameter. That bullet expansion reduces penetration. This would at first blush mean that hard ball ammo would be preferable to hollow point ammunition. Does this mean I'll switch to ball ammo. Nope.

Since I routinely carry several magazines, I have often thought about having at least one and possibly two loaded with FMJ. You never know what you are going to run into. Tyler rings a bell!

I also take from this that once the round is capable to ensure sufficent penetration then expansion is a good thing - it increases the effective caiber of the round.

A round capable of 18" of penetrartion is a starting point, after that bigger is better and expansion is a plus.

That said the article makes you wonder if in some circumstances a taser would do a better job of immediate incapacitating the perp.

I carry a 45 with the first two rounds as Hollow points and the third as FMJ after that every other round is mixed hollow then FMJ.

If two or three rounds will not do the trick I am most likely going to be retreating anyway by then if at all possible and hopefully before the first round.
