Houston concealed handgun licensing class provides little training and issues out of state Florida applications.
No mention if the District Attorney will investigate the reporters to see if they violated any laws.

Wow... I can't see that being any good in the long run...
Re: Houston TV Station undercover investigation of CHL mill in Houston
They might as well just set up and sell Florida CHL out of a van in a back alley. This is the kind of thing that drives me crazy, if someone doesn't have the time to devote to taking the whole day to become certified, they shouldn't be getting their LTC in the first place.
Texas has reduced the required time required to obtain a CHL , but that's still too much trouble for some people.

Seems to be just laziness on the part of ALL the participants.

Florida should be the entity that cares one way or the other. (Other than the obvious PR issues)
If there is a legitimate dust up, long term it could be a win for Texas CHL instructors. More folks encouraged to take the class for a TX residence license. If Florida is happy with it........either we're (TX as a collective) happy with it or we change our reciprocity. If Florida isn't happy with it, it might be interesting to see what that state could do to fix it. Fraud charges of some sort? I know nothing about the business model but if they are acting as consultants, they will probably claim (and maybe rightly so) that they told all of those applicants that they needed to do X, Y and Z. If the applicants chose to forego parts of the process it is on the applicants' hands.

When I watched the story, I got the impression that the students were reaching into a box and pulling the trigger without actually seeing the gun. The story suggested that this covered the "safe handling" aspect of the course.

I hope with a new President we will have a 50 state plus DC licensed concealed carry. I hope with that, every state will agree to reasonable licensing laws. We want CHL's to be lawful, safe and proficient, otherwise if we are not, the voters could make it all go away again.
Right now we are a shining example, it needs to stay that way.

I missed that requirement in the 2nd amendment. Perhaps I misread.Jusme wrote:They might as well just set up and sell Florida CHL out of a van in a back alley. That's unfortunate if accurate. I took my class there many years ago and thought it was a great experience. Have recommended to many. We only got the [Pre-paid legal service] talk for about 20-30 minutes during lunch.TreyHouston wrote:The chl class at hotwells in nw houston was probably 40% selling that prepaid insurance... Again, that was a very long time ago.

Took my class there last year. Had a 20 minute break that the prepaid legal insurance was discussed. Instructor left the room and told the class they could stay for the sales pitch, or go have a 20 minute break.TreyHouston wrote:The chl class at hotwells in nw houston was probably 40% selling that prepaid insurance...
