WTB Leather Hunting Sling

Post by uthornsfan »

Looking for nice traditional style leather sling for my new Ruger M77 308.

Anyone got anything laying around that came off an old deer rifle? Doesnt need to be anything fancy.

The only sling I use for all my rifles except AR's is the Brownell's Quick Set Latigo sling. The length is instantly adjustable for any shooting position and for carry. I've been using them for over 50 years and have never thought of going back to traditional slings. They come in black or natural tan in 1" (recommended) or 1-1/4" width. I added a short video by David Petzal on the use of a rifle sling that you may find useful.

I thought these were traditional slings. :headscratch
I thought the others were just straps for carrying a rifle.

I didn't even think about it when I wrote since there were pictures of slings and the OP mentioned traditional I just went with it. Now that you mentioned it I suppose a traditional sling, to me, is anything from a carry strap to a military hook and hole style. Since the Quick Set is adjustable with no other action than pulling on one or another portion of the strap to lengthen or shorten for various shooting positions it's different only in that sense. I Googled the term "Traditional Rifle Sling" out of curiosity. Cheaper than Dirt had 293 slings and straps. I looked at about half of them before the website crapped out. None were quick adjust but I'm going to go with you and say the Quick Set is a traditional sling, but with improvements.
One note of craziness I see people paying $70-85 for Quick Set Latigos on Ebay and you can buy them at Brownell's for $49.99. :headscratch
