"It's kind of a blanket order," Potter County Judge Nancy Tanner said. "You can't bring a gun on any Potter County premise. Period. Not just the court room. It's any building owned by Potter County"

Sue the county at the Texas Supreme court. That is ridiculous. How come the place you go to pay a water bill is considered a premises for the court?

If not 2017 session is not that far. Remove the court from banning CHLers carrying concealed. Anyone criminal who would like to do harm would not go for a CHL.Beiruty wrote:Sue the county at the Texas Supreme court. That is ridiculous. Their stance reminds me of some lines from Romeo and Juliet:
“ABRAHAM: Do you bite your thumb at us, sir?
SAMPSON [Aside to Gregory]: Is the law of our side, if I say ay?
GREGORY [Aside to Sampson]: No.
SAMPSON: No, sir, I do not bite my thumb at you, sir, but I bite my thumb, sir.”

$10,000 per day, per location, right? How long can the county sustain that?joe817 wrote:Fear not my friends, for we now have means to correct those infractions!rmr24 wrote:http://abc7amarillo.com/news/local/pott ... g-firearms

Apparently, they are hanging their hat on the 12/21/2015 opinion that the AG issued which said the court should decide which areas were "essential to its operation", and the judges decided every room in every building.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

TAM pointed out: $10,000 per day, per location, right? How long can the county sustain that?
Forever, if it's nor enforced and at this point, as far as I know, it's not been enforced anywhere in Texas.

Re: Potter County bans guns in all county owned buildings
Is it 3 buildings or all buildings owned by Potter County?
The judge says all property owned by the county while the county commissioners "recognize" 3 buildings.....

Does anyone have a copy of this act that they can post?
Re: Potter County bans guns in all county owned buildings
Previously I could understand them posting signs from an ignorance standpoint. Now that everyone has seen all of the legislation as well as the AG opinions how can anyone still find it okay to do this? Especially considering these are the people that are in and of the law day in and day out. It amazes me how dumb people can actually be.

Appears to me Potter County is acting like a government bully.
These "mixed-use" buildings will create headaches for the courts. I expect litigation.
