"Hey, are you on the Texas CHL Forum?"

Post by Dwight K. Schrute »

So, has anyone ever asked/been asked this question by a stranger or new acquaintance? I guess I just thought about it as I met a new friend at Sportsman's Finest while I was putting a gun on layaway. I wanted to ask, but didn't want to sound awkward.

I've been asked a couple of times at the range and at Cabelas.
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

I have talked to a few people about guns and about CHL and I
always work into the conversation this forum and about all the good
info you can get here and also the 10yr old rule.
I know of one who has joined and a few who visit here.

Cant say that I have been asked that but I have had a few people on here pointed out by others while at an IDPA match or two.

And then there was the time I overheard a Austin talking about his encounter in a Taco Cabana parking lot and figured out it was him on here. I turned to him and said that was you? And then introduced myself. Kinda funny how you run into people.

I will often tell people that I meet at the range, especially other women.
There's a wealth of knowledge on here that I want them to have.

Imagine my surprise -- walking into a CHL course a couple of months back and seeing 2 guys I work with and never talked "guns" with before... small world indeed!!

And another time recently, I read on this board -> a fellow posted a question specific to a certain gun he had. Later in that day, I was hanging around a target range in Dallas and a fellow walked in and asked the clerk at the desk almost the same question verbatim.

I had a pretty good idea it had to be the same guy -- but I didn't want to sound like a weird stalker type, so I didn't bring it up or talk to him about it. But you, there in the Hawaiian shirt ... I know who you are!

That's why I enjoy this site so much. I was looking at a few others, but got really turned off because of the constant arguing and bashing going back and forth vs quality info, great conversation, and respect

Not me, but when I went to Linda's Utah class, and I said something about carry 24/7 or guess right? She bout rolled her eyes and said, oh, you must be from that board, lol. Then chuckled of course.

Speaking of the Utah class, Marty still owes me a hit with that little mosquito zapper thing...

Well I shot several stages at a Thunder IDPA match with Stevie_d before he admitted who he was....
Reasonable gun control is hitting your target with the first shot.

Is there any objection to printing business cards and leaving them at ranges?
