Glove compartment center console

I was looking at an online class for a Virginia permit to carry, according to the class
it is illegal to have a gun in a glove box or center console in most states. Can anyone give me more info on this???
I never leave Texas. My CHL is Texas

I don't know about most states, but it is not illegal in Texas, in fact, unless you have your LTC and have the gun in a belt or shoulder holster, it must be concealed. so that doesn't leave many places besides glove box or console.
