General discussion thread...

I know everyone that could be effected is well stocked, locked and cocked...With the usual accoupraments of ammo, firearms, generators, fuel, MRE's, knives, sandbags, gillie suits, hip-waders and duck calls... ;-)

Oh, forgot the tin-foil...(The black helicopters pick that up better than a white flag being waived on a rooftop in New Orleans...) :lol:

Figure I'd do my part to raise awareness in advance of this thing...

College Station is juuuuuust far enough away from the gulf that we usually only get some semi-high winds and a lot of rain out of the deal. Usually nothing that some good bourbon and good cigars can't handle therefore I am fully prepared for the worst.

My answer is "G" all of the above.

I need to do just a bit to be prepared. Trips to local Big Box's to get some last minute essentials.

Thanks for the reminder, I'm putting my list together right now...

300 miles inland doesn't really matter. We had some TORRENTIAL rain last night in Keller as a result of Erin. And if Dean heads toward the Texas Gulf Coast....everyone from down south will be coming up here....so stocking up now is a VERY wise idea. Never know who will show up at the front door at 3am needing a roof over their head.

Shiner Bock stays on hand at all times!

The only thing Im worried about here in CS is tornadoes. Im sure there will be plent of hurricane parties around town.

I have enough .45 ammo but need to stock up my .223 ammo this weekend! Only have about 300 rounds left.

Fridge is loaded to capacity along with the pantry. Oh man, just thought about the dogs, better take care of them!

I'm sure when I run to HEB tomorrow morning in San Antonio, there will be plenty of rations left...now I don't know about the brew though...geez now I'm getting nervous! :shock:

I live 500 feet up and over 300 miles inland, but I'm still ready for heavy rains or a tornado. Worst I'd expect to see is some flash flooding; but my house is on high ground, so it'd have to get really bad.

In June, I prepared an evac kit. It has everything we need for us and the pets to survive three days from our vehicles. Mars & I each have one incase we get separated. If we had to, we could be out of the house with the pets in five minutes.
However, if I have time, I will pack more items for comfort.

Looks like it's time to start keeping the vehicles tanked up.

We can tell its coming up here around Lubbock. Our gasoline prices have jumped up 10 cents a gallon today. The local news stations are saying its in anticipation of the oil wells in the Gulf and the refinerys being damaged.

But all ya'll down that way stay safe. You count more to us than the gas does. :grin:

In years past we didn't worry about hurricanes (we live well inland).

Then along came "Rita", she convinced me that a hurricane could indeed make its presence felt far, far... from the coast-land. It got pretty nasty here in Deep East Texas for about 10 hrs.

We were without power for about 5 days and the influx of folks from the coastal areas was unreal. :shock:
