Entered a local car dealership yesterday for some routine maintenance on one of my vehicles.
The service door entrance had an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper posted on the door that I did not pay any attention to.
When I left the business I looked at the sign and was shocked to see it had both the 30.06 and 30.07 language posted in two distinct paragraphs. Of course I did not have a ruler to measure the lettering but I was completely flabbergasted. My gut told me this sign cannot comply with the height requirements set out in the Penal Code.
Other ought six and ought seven signs I have seen on other businesses are MUCH larger than this one.
For the draftsmen/graphical design guys out there---is it possible to put a compliant 30.06 AND 30.07 warning on a single 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of paper?

Re: Is This Possible? Sign Question
Maybe on several sheets taped together, but, no the lettering bus be at least 1 inch in height, so the signs were non compliant.dlh wrote:Entered a local car dealership yesterday for some routine maintenance on one of my vehicles.

Take away the Second first, and the First is gone in a second

Re: Is This Possible? Sign Question
There was a thread where a person with experience using fonts professionally was able to make a sign with only the 30.06 verbiage and the letters be 1" tall. It was fairly legible. Point being that I am training myself to always check 8 1/2 x 11 postings to see if they are a 30.06 sign. In your case, having both 30.06 and 30.07 verbiage, I think that it would be very difficult to have proper height without a comically unreadable narrow width. The sign you describe would most likely not carry the weight of law.

Yes, interesting that the "card or other document" need not comply with the same legal requirements as a "sign" according to the Penal Code. Hmmmm......

Re: Is This Possible? Sign Question
I think that's primarily because the card or other document would have to be given to you, not posted. The size requirements and such for the sign are to ensure that it is noticeable. A card that is handed to you will be noticed because it's handed to you. The sheet of paper in question is a sign, and is therefore non-compliant and unenforceable.dlh wrote:Yes, interesting that the "card or other document" need not comply with the same legal requirements as a "sign" according to the Penal Code.
