Any "safe" way to trade fireamrs without being fac

Post by mrvmax »

I want to trade handguns with a guy in New Hampshire. I know we have to go through FFL's, but I cannot think of any way to ensure that when I ship out my handgun the other guy will ship his to me. I'm taking a big risk in trusting in him. ALthough mine is worht less than $500, I'd hate to get ripped off. ANyone have any ideas of how to keep from getting ripped off?

If you can find FFL's in both states that will cooperate, then you could have each agree to hold the gun they have until the other FFL confirms receipt of the gun he's transferring. But if they deliver it anyway, you'd have a tough time doing anything about it.

That's a great idea, Charles.

Any idea on what to do if you are just buying a gun from an individual and need to send certified funds? Would an average FFL agree to hold the received gun in my state until the seller tells him the funds have been received? I wait to "see" the gun at the local FFL before I ship certified funds to the seller?

Out of state internet deals are easy to get burned on... even when you "think" you know the other person. Been there

Mr. Cotton has a very good approach!
It's not gun control that we need, it's soul control!

I've found that cross-state trades are not the easiest way to go about it. First, the shipping costs are insane, at least from my experience. I've paid $50 through UPS before.

Also, it is difficult to be sure the trade will go smoothly.

I have just sold three guns in the past week locally FTF. If you're looking to trade or sell, I don't think you can do much better than the DFW area.

You might want to look at what it would cost you to buy the item you're looking at trading for. Try to get that much for your item and just purchase it - safer.
