My wife teaches statistics and research stats at the University level. She has also developed surveys for the effectiveness of grants funded by both the NSF and the Department of Education. I can't tell you the weeks she has spent wording question so that we're not biased or leading., her goal was to get honest feed back no matter the results.in order to evaluate the grants. I!m positive there are poorly constructed polls out there (such as the one referenced in this thread). I also know your contention is incorrect.

It is true that a poll may be designed to produce a desired outcome, however that doesn't mean all polls are meaningless. A poll can be designed to be fair.o b juan wrote:I say ALL polls are meaningless;

It's unlikely to actually happen, no matter what percent of Texans support it.
Secession without bloodshed won't happen, (remember the Civil War?) and I don't think enough people will want it enough to attempt it.

Don't forget, approximately 1/3 of the all military personnel are from Texas. How many of them do you think will attack their home state?mr1337 wrote:It's unlikely to actually happen, no matter what percent of Texans support it.

Depends on how many of them are from Austin, or how many of them had liberal brainwashing, I mean education, that overrides their good sense.Pawpaw wrote:Don't forget, approximately 1/3 of the all military personnel are from Texas. The left lies about everything. Truth is a liberal value, and truth is a conservative value, but it has never been a left-wing value. People on the left say whatever advances their immediate agenda. Power is their moral lodestar; therefore, truth is always subservient to it. - Dennis Prager

I choose secession if Trump is elected, too.
Re: Poll: 3 Out of 5 Texans Choose Secession if Clinton is Elected
Sorry, but the idea of secession is just stupid. It was not a good idea in 1861 (politically, financially, militarily, or in any other way I can think of) and it is not a good idea today. Texas is a great State, but it is better off from its association within the United States.
With the wisdom of their experience, I expect my Confederate ancestors would agree with me.
If Clinton is elected, I will depend on the checks and balances of Congress (mainly), as well as an assertion of federalism by Texas and other states. If Trump is elected, I will depend on the same.

And what would that do to Federal jobs, defense plants, post offices, military bases, VA Hospital for vets, Social Security accounts and the like ? So many more to. Lots to consider there.

Unless something drastically changes, there are no checks or balances. The current congress has bent over backwards to hand obummer just about everything he asked for and fulfilled nothing they have campaigned towards.
Wasn't it Sam Houston that said Texas can get by without the United States but the United States can't get by without Texas? Those words are still true today.

Thanks for the dose of common sense... it seems to be a more and more scarce commodity these days.

When government places itself above its own laws and the people its time to abolish it and start over. I think we are way past that point.
