Who's the best retailer...

Post by stevie_d_64 »

..or provider of targets (i.e.: the old blue man CHL, El Gato's new CHL targets, IDPA cardboard, etc etc) for the price in bulk???

I bought a bunch (75-80) of the older blueman CHL targets a few years ago...And have shot them all up...I kept the best ones, and burned the rest up as fire starter on days like this...

I know the place where I bought them is still open, but I don't like their price, even if thats the right price...  They are not very nice people to begin with...

"Wife Unit" and I are starting to shoot more, and I feel its better economically to have as much "stuff" already bought and paid for so all we have to do is grab bodies, guns, ammo, safety gear and targets and go...

Just thought I would pick some of y'alls brains today...

Fantastic! I'll have to buy a bundle for muhself...

"El Gato" told me that the Texas CHL range qualifier target has switched from the old DPS "blue man", to a "black" smaller "10-ring" type target...

He'll pop in here and give us the designator on that...I forgot what that thing was called...echhh...

I still don't think anyone will have a problem qualifying anyway...

Hello Stevie

LE target is the outfit the DPS told us would be good to use for a resonable price, if any of you find better let me know but right now I am satisfied with them.

The new target for the DPS will be the old standard B-27 and we can use it in any of the four colors, we will still score it as a 5 - 4 - 3.

I ordered 100 in green thinking they would be light green, but they came in dark, I may order red next time, I want the color that will allow shooters to see their sight best.

What do Y'all think will be the better color black, blue, green or red?

I feel that red would be the best....unless the blue is bright. Thanks.

El Gato...

Order a few in each color...Not that its a fashion statement, but it depends on the lighting at the range at a particular time of day, etc etc...

Since the course of fire they do in a CHL qualifier is not a competition, and very rarely does one not qualify, some may want an interesting color anyway...Its suppose to be fun and serious at the same time I guess...

The last renewal I had I tipped the instructor about $10 to buy a few targets for the next few classes he had...

Too bad he's not doing it anymore...

Over the years, I've found LE Targets to be a top-notch vendor.

FWIW, they also make a reduced size B-27 for, I think 50 foot ranges. I bought some with recent order, but I've not yet scaled it to see what longer distance(s) it can simulate.

Another target or two I like is the FBI "Q", in both standard or reduced size. It is somewhat milk bottle-shaped and is white on a gray background. In addition to being a realistic size, bullet holes often show up well in the white interior - which was not always the case with the old blue DPS "Amazon Man".

The IDPA paper practice targets can be purchased directly from IDPA HQ. When I bought some they were $33 for a case of 100 + $9 shipping Fed-Ex to my location. They can be taped with regular masking tape.

You can also get the official cardboard targets if desired but they come 50 per box and are around $24 plus shipping and if you buy 3 or more boxes it's cheaper.

The prices may have changed so check the IDPA homepage

Hey Eric:
I just rec'd a new box from idpa hq and the price has gone up a little- $27.50 for a box of 50 cardboard targets.
Good thing about them, as you know, is that they are reusable with enough target pasters or target tape.
However, they do list other target suppliers on their web site for authorized idpa targets that may be cheaper.
