Looking for a shorter Rifle in .243 for a Friend of mines son. He has been looking and thinks that a Rifle like the Ruger Mark II Compact would be the right fit.
Any ideas? He shoots a .243 so he would like to stay with the same caliber.

Savage makes a Stevens rifle in 243 that is just great. Cheap (about $285 from me), easy to shoot, not too big and easy to shorten the synthetic stock if necessary. Bought one for our 9 year old grandson in 243 and with an Optronics 3x9 scope and my handloads it shoots easily into 3/4". He loves it and took his first deer with it this year.
Remington makesa youth model in .243 and 7mm-08, as well as .308. The 7mm is based on the .308 case, as is the .243 and the larger two will also handle larger game. The youth model can have a larger stock added as he grows. I bought one for my son and he did very well with it. He simply replaced the stock when He grew up.
