Pleasant surprise (signage)

Post by ELB »

Jud's (a shell gas station) at the corner of I-10 and Highway 123 Bypass in Seguin has a Subway in it that I like to patronize because it is close to where I work. Have been in there many times over the years. A few months ago I was waiting to check out at the main cashier station and idly looking out the front windows when I realized they had new 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted, a few feet away from the front door. I hadn't noticed them on the way in, and frankly wasn't looking for them at all since I had been in that store many times.

As the cashier gave me my receipt, she said something like "Please come again" or some such, and I replied "Not at as long as those signs are there" and pointed at them. She kind of nodded her head and said "Oh yeah." I did not go by there again until today.

There's another couple Subways in Seguin, but they are not close by, and I really wanted a meatball sandwich (toasted of course). Just for grins I drove through the parking lot at Jud's and lookee there...couldn't see any signs. Parked, walked up to the door, looked around...nope. Cool.

I enjoyed my meatball sandwich (toasted), thank you very much.

My lady lives in Seguin, I'm over there all the time! Good to see somewhere taking signs down!

Lewisville has a Shell station on Main Street. In Jaunary, they posted a 30.07 sign and then a week or so later, they switched it to a 30.06. I used to stop there fairly often but quit stopping after that. I sent the information to Texas3006.

Today, I was driving by and just happened to glance in - no sign. I'd have to drive into the parking lot to see if maybe they just moved it to where it isn't visible from the road. I'd bet that they took it down. What is interesting is that there is another Shell station not two miles away that has never put up any signs. I guess they are independently operated and each operator is making their own decisions about the signs. I wonder if they got negative feedback or whether they just decided that they didn't need the sign.
