Which one should I carry......

I am traveling to Houston this weekend to pick up a relative of mine that just had a surgery.

It will be a day trip and we probably won't be stopping....except to get fuel and possibly one meal.

My normal "daily carry" is the P-13, but the SP-101 is so much lighter.

In terms of concealment, they both hide well, and are similarly sized.

The difference in weight is significant however:

Fully Loaded P-13 (14 rounds of 230 gr.) = 3.25 lb. payload
Fully Loaded SP-101 (5 rounds of 125 gr.) = 1.9 lb. payload

I am partial to the P-13 for it's high capacity and ability to be quickly reloaded, but the Wheel-Gun is tempting for this short trip.

Flint,

I would carry the P-13 on my person since you will be driving, not walking a great deal, the weight won't mean much. Then I would put the 101 in my center console (or some other accessible location) for good measure.

Thats what I would do.

Yep. I carry my PT-145 on me and have my trusty Ruger Security Six in the console of the truck.

No way I would give up the capacity in Houston! I used to have a revolver and never felt comfortable with 5 shots in some of the areas.

I am sure you are an expert with both, but I would rather the larger round count. I carried a 642 downtown once and promised myself that I would NEVER do that again. Folks tend to run in 3-4 people groups.

That Para should be tucked nicely in your shoulder rig

I would do the opposite.
keep the wheelie on your person, as the weight would most certainly be more comfortable whilst sitting in ze car (as I remember, you're a shoulder holster kinda guy).
then I'd have your gat in the console, and would be my first choice if'n you were in a scenario that necessitated some capping.
course depending on the sichy-ation, you may want the shoulder gun first, but I'd still have the wheeler there.

also, If'n I'm not completely off mah rocker, a .45 is not as loud as a .357.
in a car, that may be the difference between, "Wow, that was loud (ears ringing)," and, "What?!?!" for the rest of yer days.

I know, everyone is going to say some rigga-maroo about "da sound maka no differs-ences in mah choica da gunses."
but I dunno want to fire a .357 in that close of quarters.

There are parts of Houston that I just don't go to if I can't carry. One of those parts in the Houston Medical Center. if your relative that you arepicking up is in that part of town, I'd definitely bring both the pistol and the revolver, and carry whichever one is most comfortable for the long drive, and slip the other in the console or glove box (or under the seat, or under the wife's leg, or...)

BTW, who says you can only carry one? Why not the wheelie in a shoulder rig and the pistola in a hip rider?

Good point. I'll stick with the Para as per usual.....but take the 101 also.

The 101 will fit nicely in the center console (as suggested). Don't know why I didn't think of that.
