Tennessee man receives apology for police misunderstanding

Post by seamusTX »

Frankie will love this one: http://www.coltcco.com/?p=187

Short version: In Tennessee, it is legal for a permit holder to carry openly. A man was doing so was stopped, disarmed, frisked, and according to his account roughed up a little. He was not arrested because another officer informed the first officer that open carry is legal.

The man got an attorney general opinion confirming that he was in the right, and an apology from the police department.

Like I said, if you want to convert your vacation/visit into a "crusade", open carry all you want.

Sure, it's legal. And if you want to freak badly-informed citizens out and scuffle with badly-informed cops, it's the way to go.
Ahm jus' a Southern boy trapped in a Yankee's body

They said the nearly the same thing about interracial marriage when it was frowned upon and illegal in some states.

This event took place in Tennessee, not Kentucky.
