Plans to take it Nationally. Probably means changing everything to suit East and West coast tastes.

I am guessing a "pump and dump" corporate job.
Now, if they get rid of the green chili double burger and substitute a soy and tofu burger then I will know the end is near.

Not just "stolen", but Apocalypse Now was a deliberately modern rendition of Heart of Darkness. (My dad was a well known and published Conrad scholar.)JustSomeOldGuy wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2019 3:44 pm In the words of Marlon Brando's character in 'Apocalypse Now', "The horror, the horror".

I received my first “nuked” Whataburger in 45 years of eating there. I have also had a fantastic burger in the last year. QC is surely going South.jason812 wrote: Sun Jun 16, 2019 5:24 pm The taste has gone downhill in the last few years. I don't see it getting any better.

I have not been inside a whataburger in awhile. I do the drive through. I did not realize they had gone to nuking to heat the patties.WTR wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2019 4:52 pmI received my first “nuked” Whataburger in 45 years of eating there. Whataburger has not been 2A friendly. I don’t care what they do as I don’t like their food. I really have a hard time trying to figure out why people like them. To each his own though. It will be interesting to see what they do as far as signage in the future.

I'll take a jalapeno and cheese Whataburger over a bag full of White Castle any day of the week.
Re: Whataburger majority stake sold to Chicago investment firm
This “nuking” has only been experienced once by me. However, the quality of their burgers sure haven’t been consistent across all Whataburger restaurants lately. Some great, some not so much.03Lightningrocks wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2019 5:03 pmWTR wrote: Tue Jun 18, 2019 4:52 pmI received my first “nuked” Whataburger in 45 years of eating there. Re: Whataburger majority stake sold to Chicago investment firm
My most recent visit to Whataburger was with another couple on a Friday night after theatre. We all ordered "Dine In/Here". The other people got their food on trays with the standard offerings of ketchup, salt/pepper/napkins by the person delivering the food. When ours came out it was in a paper bag with the "Dine In/Here" ticket stapled to it and I told the employee that we ordered to eat in. She just looked at me, walked away and resumed her conversation with another employee. I had to get up and go to the counter to get my condiments. The food quality matched the employee quality - barely warm fries and a burger that looked like it had been assembled by a blindfolded 3 year old. Plus the soda machine was dispensing regular Coke out of the Diet Coke nozzle.
I have had a couple of positive Whataburger experiences this year - both of them were at stores in small towns far away from big cities.
