I just left MY Whataburger on Stacy Rd in Allen, Texas and at 2:00ish today there was an attempted child abduction of a child 8-10 years old. With his parents standing right beside him! The man had a shovel and he waited until the parents turned their backs and he attacked. The manager Lauren saved the day, fighting him off as he beat her with a shovel. The police caught the man in my hometown, Fairview. But how many times are we buried in our phones and not paying attention to our surroundings?! This hit waaaay too close to home. Please urge your children to be aware of what is going on. So so scary!

Today officers responded to a suspicious person call at Whataburger on Stacy Rd. A 21 yr old male was at the location, talking to himself and he had a garden trowel (not a full size shovel). After a brief altercation with Whataburger staff and patrons, he left the scene in his vehicle and crashed shortly after leaving the parking lot. Officers were able to locate him and get him transported to a hospital for an evaluation.
At one point the male did grab a child, but it was determined that he was not attempting to take the child. No one was injured at the scene.

I have to wonder why they decided he was not really going to take the child.
