Anybody with a Lathe?
I've got a rifle I'm rebuilding but the hole in the barrel nut is a bit too small and I need it bored out slightly. It's currently 1.0" and I need it to be 1.052. Any ideas for opening it up if I can't find someplace to do it.

What are the tolerances for the hole? What shape is the nut?kayt00 wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2020 12:25 pm I've got a rifle I'm rebuilding but the hole in the barrel nut is a bit too small and I need it bored out slightly. Re: Anybody with a Lathe?
OD on the barrel is 1.046, ID on the barrel nut is about an inch. I figure 1.052 +/- .002" should be fine and could probably be a smidge bigger but I'd like to keep as much material as possible and still be able to screw it onto the receiver. The barrel nut itself is round.

Re: Anybody with a Lathe?
I work at a machine shop in Dallas, but in the west central area, close I35E and 183/Regal Row.
I could easily do this for you. If you're willing to bring it by the shop one morning I can knock it out while you grab a bite to eat nearby. I can open it up to within +/- .001" of your specs. PM me if interested.
