Another lesson in why people should let an investigation run its course before jumping on a bandwagon.
True. But in this incident the Air Force publicly announced they had suspended the use of the firearm. Which cascaded into:
- Multiple gun ranges banning the P320
- Multiple Police departments have banned the P320
- Houston Police department banned the P320 citing a lawsuit from an injured officer (claiming mis-fire)
It did not help Sig that there has been other complaints of uncommanded discharges on the P320 platform. The perception is and has been for a while, that this weapon has issues. I do not see how the P320 will be trusted as a duty weapon for real or perceived legal liabilities.
But I have to say, that with so many P320/M17/M18 weapons in use by Military, Federal LEOs, and other LEO's, if it was a problem with the weapon, you would think there would be several more incidents.
