Which is what the State Fair of Texas did for 25 years until 2023...PriestTheRunner wrote: Tue Sep 30, 2025 8:09 pm East Texas State Fair handled it with LEO's and LTC's going to the side and showing a uniformed officer their credentials. Everybody else walked through the upright post-style metal detectors. Seemed to work well.
But that's just common sense.

Unrelated but when I did go to the Fair, I always took the DART rail as I hated the parking around there, it was cheaper, and it was just convenient as it drops you off in front of the Fair grounds. I refuse to go to a lot of places unarmed, especially events like this where predators are looking for easy victims.
The unrelated story below is regarding a man killed Monday night riding DART home from Deep Ellum (another place I refuse to go unarmed and won't venture to once it gets dark) after celebrating his birthday. I've happened to have been served by Daniel a few times and as recently as last month. Nice enough guy, just heartbreaking how it went down.
