Happy Independence Day!!
Although it would have been better if suppressors and SBR's were removed from the NFA, there should be a surge in purchases of suppressors and more conversions of AR pistols to SBR's now that there is no longer a $200 tax owed.

Will be interesting to see what the anti-gunners will do to block this legislation from taking effect. I'm sure there's a few hundred willing district judges who are willing to issue a nationwide injunction despite the recent slapdown by SCOTUS.

As a reminder the nationwide injunctions have primarily been to enjoin executive orders. This will be legislation passed by Congress and signed into law by POTUS. It will be much harder to argue that a law (as opposed to an executive order) is "unlawful."

This bill sets up a court case to do away with the NFA completely, thanks to the Senate Parliamentarian. The Byrd rule says that only things dealing with a tax or spending may be handled by reconciliation (this makes sense because you are trying to reconcile the budget). The original House passed bill did say that the NFA no longer applied to SBAs and suppressors. The Parliamentarian said they could change the tax rate but not remove the items completely because the registration was not part of the tax.

All of this makes sense, EXCEPT that SCOTUS has ruled in the past that the entire NFA was constitutional because it was a tax. No tax means the registration part is not legal. GOA said they have the lawsuit ready to file as soon as the bill is signed. I think they will probably wait until tomorrow, but that will be soon enough.

I think I have this correct, but you can review it on GOA's web site to be sure.

Maybe this could be his favorite accomplishment.

But what do we do with our old gas cans. Maybe they will sell just the pouring sealing part and we can throw that in iron mental impossible part away. ( in the recycler of course)

In other less important news Trump gets a 15% tarriff from Europe.

Maduro capture in middle of the night by Delta Force “the Unit” in Venezuela. Headed with wife to New York for trial after indictment.

Only flaw in plan is a NewYork judge releasing them without bail.

Wow, invaded another country and captured it's political leader. Setting a dangerous precedent here.
I didn't vote for Trump three times because he wanted to create more war, he campaigned on ending wars. Seems like all he's doing is continuing the endless wars status quo.

I've gotta say I'm impressed that they got Maduro so quickly. Whatever the legality of the operation, the execution was stunningly effective.

No new precedent at all. We did the same thing in December 1989 (by weird coincidence, the capture happened on Jan 3, 1990 to be precise) when G.H.W. Bush sent troops in to Panama to capture their leader, Noriega, on a warrant for drug charges. Only he sent them in with full force, not a special forces unit, and the invasion took several weeks to capture him. That invasion cost us 23 soldiers and 3 civilians. We killed 314 Panamanian soldiers and 202 civilians.

And that criminal case went to the SCOTUS who said the invasion was legal to serve the warrant. There might be some differences in the extradition treaty we had with Venezuela that might make a difference though. Otherwise this was a legal use of US Military forces to serve an authorized warrant and make two arrests.

I disagree with the principal that we can enforce US law in other countries, but SCOTUS seems to disagree with me.

I had forgotten that King Bush I invaded Panama to capture Noriega. My concern about this is what happens if China indicted Trump for crimes against their country and issued a warrant for his arrest? Are we going to allow Chinese military to invade Mar Largo and whisk him away to China for trial?

Interesting how this happened so quickly.

Zealots for communism or paid mercenaries.

Anti Trump in any thing he does, or pro Maduro pro communists.

Few better examples of the benefits of communism than Venezuela richest oil economy in the Western hemisphere to poverty in what 25 years.

She fled Russia in 1975 to seek freedom and a better life. Seems she would no better. Maybe she should return to Russia, where it’s a workers paradise.

Trump has talked about Greenland again.
