However much I despise Cornyn, he keeps giving me new reasons to despise him more. :mad5

I like open primaries.
I want to vote for whomever I want to vote for when I vote.
If I want to cross over and vote for someone in the other party, I like to be able to do that.
I realize there's an opportunity for mischief, but if a party is running such a crummy candidate that the other party wants them to succeed because the can't win in the general election, we should get better candidates.

YMMV, these are my opinions.

I may not think Cornyn was great, but there's no way I'm voting for a crook like Paxton.

I anticipated that Cornyn would do everything that he possibly could to hit back at the grassroots opposition to him. He was successful at doing that for at least one prior election cycle. I'm happy that he is gone. His trying to draw blood during his exit confirms the value of the change.

The Democratic party continues to do everything that it can to undermine the will of the voters. They poured millions of dollars into to weaker Republicans, trying to influence the primary outcomes so that Democratic candidates could face weaker opponents. It is the same tactic in the Texas House where the Speaker has been elected by weak Republicans plus every Democrat. This is the equivalent of giving the middle finger to the Republican electorate who voted for a Republican majority, expecting that majority to chose the Speaker. When your policies do not attract voters, the solution is to try to sabotage the opposing party.

I do not agree with everything that Ken Paxton has done. His record as AG, however, shows greater support for the Texas voters than even our Governor. The Republican voters of Texas helped to put President Trump into office because of the promises that he made. I do not agree with all the President Trump has done. In fact, I strongly disagree with some things, viewing them as reversals. But it is impossible for me to imagine that I would be happier if he had lost the election because the vast majority of policies that I want would be opposite of what I want. I see that same comparison between Paxton and Talarico. If the Democrats retake the majority in the Senate, I know for certain that the agenda items that I want will be reversed. Immigration alone is a reason not to allow Talarico to win. I have listened to a lot of people with TDR tell me why we should have a different President. That is one of the reasons that we don't elect Presidents by popular vote but through the Electoral College - which the Democrats would tear down if they could.

Lastly, nearly everything that happened during the Biden Presidency has been proven to be wrong. While the primary exhibit for that was the Covid policies, immigration and voter fraud are very close competitors. "There is no voter fraud" - except that it has been proven to be rampant. So before anyone says that they cannot hold their nose and vote for Paxton, they should consider the stench that will result if Talarico and el-sayed are in power. It may be closer than anyone realizes.
