UTAH carry at SLC community college with CFP
Hello, I am looking for people's personal knowledge / experience with carrying concealed on Community College campuses. I know the U of U is a non issue but I may not be able to afford attending there right away. Thank you all for your input and time.

Howdy and welcome!
Sorry, but I have no specific knowledge of Utah laws and would be ill advised to offer advice.

Do I understand correctly that you are asking about community colleges in Texas?
Check out College of the Mainland in Texas City: http://www.com.edu/
They have some marksmanship, police, and criminal justice courses, and they have a shooting range on campus. I don't know how it is run, but they must have some provision for students being able to bring their weapons on campus.

Re: UTAH carry at SLC community college with CFP
No, I was referring to community college in Utah, SLC specifically. I have been a Texas resident all my life, a CHL permit holder and a Police Officer. Under chapter 46 of the penal code, firearms are prohibited on any school campuses unless the actor is a Peace Officer, whether he or she is there on official business or not.
I am leaving the state and wish to carry while I further my education and don't necessarily desire to become licensed as a Peace Officer in another state right away, I just wish to carry as a civilian and not be a sitting duck in a classroom while I complete that education. I've always liked Utah, been there many times and just so happens to have very liberal carry laws when one has a CFP. It's almost like having off duty carry privileges as a Peace Officer in Texas.

Utah permits persons with a Concealed Firearm Permit to carry ANYWHERE that is not specifically prohibited by law, including many places where Texas CHL holders are not accustomed to carrying.
From the BCI (Bureau of Criminal Identification) website:
http://bci.utah.gov/CFP/FIREARMS_LAWS_F ... UCTORS.pdf
It is unlawful for a person with a firearm permit to carry a concealed firearm in the following locations:
• Any secure area in which firearms are prohibited and notice of the prohibition is posted.
• Any secure area of an airport.
• Any courthouse, courtroom, mental health facility or correctional facility that may provide by rule that no
firearm may be transported, sold, given, or possessed upon the facility. At lease one notice shall be
prominently displayed at each entrance to a secure area in which a dangerous weapon, firearm, or
explosive is restricted.
• Any house of worship that has notified BCI and is posted on the BCI website.
• It is unlawful to carry a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance with or
without a permit. A concealed weapon permit is not a defense to prosecution for any person who carries a
weapon while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance [(76-10-528(2)(b)]
• It is lawful to carry a firearm capable of being concealed in one’s home or place of business without a
permit.
It is unlawful for any to exhibit any firearm in an angry or threatening manner unless in necessary selfdefense.
There is NO prohibition from carrying into Utah schools.

Re: UTAH carry at SLC community college with CFP
Thank you a bunch, coming from a Utah CFP instructor this sets my mind at peace. I look forward to moving out to beautiful SLC. I saw that code, but you know there is nothing like hearing someone's practical application experience first hand. I've had the pleasure to enlighten people who have come to me from states outside Texas with questions about penal code and weapons and watch them go in peace.
I already hold a UT CFP as a non resident so I will merely send in a notification of address change and any appropriate fee and wait for my revised permit to arrive in the snail mail.
Again, Thank you.
