Son passed the course....
My son called from Abilene last night, he had finished the CHL course. He really enjoyed it and paid extra special attention to the 'legal' portions of the classroom insrtuction.... just as I told him to !
Course Completion Certificate should be mailed to him Monday or Tuesday, then his packet will be complete and ready to mail to Austin.
Just being 21 and with only one address (here) besides his college addy, at least the background checks shouldn't take too long. My being the former Police Chief here resulted in the straight and narrow, so no problems with a background check either.
Now he just has to have patience with the system.... something that was also hard for me, LOL !

That seems odd to me. I've always given students the TR-100 and the blue-bordered certificate immediately upon completion of the class. There already seems to be enough delays without adding such mailing time. Are they waiting on a fancy print job? For checks to clear?

Same here. Students leave with everything they need except their fee to the state.Greybeard wrote:Quote: "Course Completion Certificate should be mailed to him Monday or Tuesday"

When I took the course at the same location, they handed us our certificates, but there was only three of us in the course. My son said that there were 18 in his class yesterday, Instructor said he would need today (Sunday) to get the paperwork finished up.
Since the Post Office is closed for President's Day, my son looks for it on Wednesday or Thursday, same city delivery there in Abilene.

I'm with you. I print certificates while students take the written test. But, obviously, not everyone does, as I have heard a lot of people don't get theirs the same day. Personally, I pay DPS enough for the certificates - I sure don't want to add postage to the cost!Greybeard wrote:Quote: "Course Completion Certificate should be mailed to him Monday or Tuesday"

Now, if I could just come up with was some way to print TR-100s instead of handwriting them all...

I sign the certs and TR100's, then have the students fill them out. We go line by line, then I have them gather the exact forms they need to send off and paperclip together.llwatson wrote:I'm with you. I print certificates while students take the written test. Of course, our usual class size is 20.
