Ok. Just a quick update.

I called and spoke with the Library Director's secretary, and it turns out that those signs are posted on all city buildings. I was very polite, and asked who to speak to, she told me the City Secretary. We continued to talk; she was very pleasant, and even said that her husband wants to get his CHL. While on the phone, another library employee overheard our conversation, and he said that the sign shouldn't be there. She tried to transfer me to the City Secretary but she didn't know anything about the statute and suggested I speak to the Director of Buildings (how many directors does a city need). He wasn't there, so the library secretary personally took my information down and will give it to him, and she gave me is direct number to call in case he doesn't call me back. She finally told me that if this guy doesn't help me, to contact the City Secretary, whose name and number she gave me, and she will be forced to do an investigation into the signs.

So, that's all I have for now. I'll post more later when I have more news.

Very persistent first call - good job.

Now if only there wasn't quite so much red tape...

*sigh* The library secretary just called me, she is really sweet. Anyway, she found out that the reason the sign is on the library is because of the adjoining courthouse. I mentioned what the statute says about "premises" but she said that the director had done lots of research with some lawyer with the NRA, and was told he had to put it up. She did correct one error, though, all the other signs on the city buildings have been removed. I may not go any further with this, because she told me that the library is moving this month, the 19th, into their own building, and I was assured that there would be no sign on that building. So, it almost seems like a mute point, since they are moving.

The really funny thing is, after she got off the phone with me earlier, a man came into the library looking for the municipal court to pay a ticket. While he was there, he demanded to speak to somebody about the exact same sign outside. :smilelol5: She asked if he was related to me, and he just looked at her funny and said, "uh, nooo." So I thought that was really funny, and she thought that was really ironic. She's worked there for years, and today two people ask about the sign for the first time ever. The really good news, is she and her husband are going to get their CHLs! :clapping:
