I'm pretty sure that Pro Defense America, in Webster, has a Gunsmith on staff, and Marburger's (off of 146) sends their customers to a guy in Texas City, so you could call there and see who they recommend.
It is better to be judged by twelve than carried by six. But if you eat enough ice cream, you might have to get 12 guys to carry you.
Shooter's Corner, 409-945-7430. I have not used the gunsmith's services here, but if the nature of his personal trophies on the walls of the shop are any indication of his competence with firearms I would not hesitate to refer a problem to him.

Baker's Gun Repair, 409-948-3124.
Al Baker works from a shop in his home, which is not a minus. He has worked on a fairly uncommon furriner for me, as well as on a couple of domestic firearms. Nothing but good to say about him -- a true gentleman, devoted to his craft.
It is best to call ahead, as it is quite possible either one of these fellows may be away hunting, often in Africa or Alaska. The gunsmith at Shooter's Corner is a registered guide in Alaska.
There's this guy who works from a shop in a business park right across from Ellington Field...Ed Vandenberg...Vandenberg Customs...
I think there is a link here on this website to his website...If not, its not that hard to find...
Not sure if he works on Makarov's, but if you give him a call he'll let you know for sure...
He has not done me wrong at all on the projects I have given him over the years...

Al Baker is excellent. He stays very busy and goes hunting alot. I had a muzzle brake made and installed on my Rem 700 and you can't even see the line. Excellent work.
