Public officials who carry
I was just listening to the radio in the car... and Jerry Patterson (Texas Land Commissioner) was defending the 1995 child access law (local story brought it up) and mentioned that it was passed at the same time as the CHL law. He also mentioned on live radio that he carries concealed. Not so concealed anymore I guess. But good for him and great advocacy.
Re: Public officials who carry
We need to get him here on the Forum (if he is not here already).

Re: Public officials who carry
Might have something to do with this... I know all five of my friends who have served are CHL holders.
"Graduating from Texas A&M, Class of 1969 and receiving his commission in the United States Marine Corps, Patterson volunteered for duty in Vietnam in 1972 and was later designated as a Naval Flight Officer and served in Marine fighter squadrons until his retirement from the Marine Corps Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993."
"His son Travis is a graduate of Texas A&M, where he was commissioned as a Marine Lieutenant. He is currently serving in Iraq as a U.S. Marine attack helicopter pilot."

Glad to see someone educated, experienced and with common sense in that State Office!

How soon we forget!
Jerry Patterson was the author of SB60 in 1995 that gave us concealed carry and shepherding it through the legislature.

I didn't forget that he was instrumental with the CHL bill - I just hadn't heard him say "I carry" before.
Re: Public officials who carry
If I recall correctly, I took my first class waaaaaaay back when with Jerry Patterson and Roma Skinner (a constable). It was a VERY good class.

Pucker - Methinks you recall slightly incorrectly.
It was another one of the SB60 sponsors (sorry, his name slips me just now) who was a CHL instructor in Grand Prarie, (if I recall correctly
)
