Wisconsin Gun Laws

Post by 45 4 life »

I just heard about a project that I may be bidding on located in Wisconsin. Like normal one of he first things I did was go on line and start boneing up on the 2A status for the state. Oh my, was I suprised. Just reading through some of the information makes me wonder if Wisconsin is not in some way part of Illinois.

If any of you have first hand information about Wisconsin and how the laws are actually used please give me an up-date. This job is not looking that great.

There's no concealed carry in Wisconsin. At the rate they're going, they're not likely to have it in the foreseeable future. Some faction in the legislature fights it every time.

Wisconsin is technically an open-carry state, but I never heard of anyone carrying except while hunting.

Madison makes Austin look conservative, and they may have worse local ordinances than the state.

It's basically like Texas before 1995.

It also gets real stinking cold.

Thats is what I am finding out seamusTX. Apparently they are OC with permit, and with that transportation of a firearm is just like Ill. Cased, unloaded, and not within reach. They actually consider in the vehicle laying on the seat in plain sight, concealed.

I guess with all of the talk about DC, Cal, and Ill I never considered Wisconsin. They seem to be flying under the radar on the national level.

My next step is to look at crime rates, if I find what I expect I will not be going there.

Milwaukee is awful: http://www.cityrating.com/citycrime.asp ... e&state=WI. It has all the disadvantages of a big city and few of the attractions of a big city.

The rest of the state is rural or small-town and pretty tame. My general impression is that cops outside the cities aren't going to give you a hard time unless you fit their profile of a gangster or drug runner. I should say I didn't spend much time in Wisconsin.

Thanks SeamusTX, The project is diffently out of a major city, and in very rural area. I would hate to be there unarmed with all the children of the corn possibilities.
