Got outted at friends house
Saturday night. Went over to a buddies house to play cards. Carrying as usual. He and his wife know I carry as he and his son go shooting with me, and we have talked about Mike getting his CHL. Anyway, they invited a friend of theirs to stay and play cards with us. They are usually very good about locking their doors even when home. My wife and I walk up and try the door, it was unlocked so we walked in, as we usually do when it is open and they know we are coming. Anyway, as we walk in, I mention that I couldn't believe that they left the door unlocked and that they would let any old riff raff in. The "friend" says something to the effect of "go get the guns". To which my buddies wife replies, "Not a good idea, Tim carries". The friends eyes grew about 4 sizes and she pops off with a "You carry with all these kids around?" Since I don't particulurly care for this friend, I just replied, "Yep" and then generally ignored her for the rest of the night. The subject never came up again.
I know I know...NEVER TELL ANYONE !

I enjoy sarcasm and often prefers the “smarty paints type reply.
My come back to kids being around. . . . Assuming, I am not trying to play nice.
“yep, in fact it’s safer on my hip then in your night stand, or do you keep it in your sock draw,,, lets ask your boy if he know were you keep your guns

What did your buddy have to say about it?
Re: Got outted at friends house
He pretty much just looked at his wife and said "Honey" and gave her a look, so that she knew she should not have said anything. Like I said, after that I just let it go.
I wish I had been able to come up with some kind of smart alec remark to reply to her, but I was kinda shocked that I was outed so just replied with a "yep"

You are probably better off with your response and letting it go. Sometimes it's hard to argue with stupidity.tboesche wrote:He pretty much just looked at his wife and said "Honey" and gave her a look, so that she knew she should not have said anything. Like I said, after that I just let it go.

Let her stew in your "yep". It may do more than anything you could have said. You wrote you didn't like her much so you may never see her again
. Or, she might actually come out of her self-absorbed haze long enough to think about the subject objectively. Maybe, even going so far as to look up some info on people that carry. That has been a positive thing to spite the other side trying to claim doom.

I've had to respond to a similar scenario, and what I used was "Shewt, I carry BECAUSE the kids are here."
shut'em up.
shut'em up.
FWIW, IIRC, AFAIK, FTMP, IANAL. YMMV.
Re: Got outted at friends house
I would've gone with something along the lines of "Heck, my kids can shoot just as good as I do!"DoubleJ wrote:I've had to respond to a similar scenario, and what I used was "Shewt, I carry BECAUSE the kids are here."

How about lean in real close and say..."Go ahead...Make my day".. Most folks like this you can't change their mind anyway. So you might have a little fun anyway. Ahh, nevermind, she probably doesn't even know what thats from.

Must have been confused about the difference between carry & shootin.tboesche wrote: The friends eyes grew about 4 sizes and she pops off with a "You carry with all these kids around?" I have replied "Sure, doesn't everyone?" When they say no then "I reply why not?" .
