WTB New Ruger LCP - North DFW area

Post by kidder014 »

I'm looking for a Ruger LCP in the northern DFW area (McKinney, Plano, and even up towards Sherman and surrounding areas)

Anyone have one you would part with, or know of a shop with them in stock?

Thanks!

Don't have one but am looking.

Forget Academy, they get 2 or 3 a month from Ruger and unless you are there when they arrive, you missed your chance. Bullet Trap is in the same boat receiving 2 or 3 a month but they have a waiting list you can sign up on. As of last Friday, the list was 82 persons deep. By my math, that's about 2 years wait (assuming they get three each month).

Good luck.

I'm just gonna sit back and see if things get better in about 6 months.

your best bet would be:

1) become friends with one of the Academy gun counter employees. have him call you as soon as they get an LCP.
2) order online
3) pick one up at a gun show. i wasn't looking very hard and came across 2 at the market hall gun show last weekend.

How much were they asking for at the gun show?

If I were you - I would try to wait out the storm. The demand is so high - that they know (at gun shows, especially) - that they can rip you off!

Next thing they will start doing - is charging you a fee just to look at the LCP at the gun shows!

The local SAWS gun shop in Mesquite/Sunnyvale has them in stock for $399 as of last week. I really do not want to pay that much so I'll wait a while.

Price at both Academy and Bullet Trap was $289.

I too will wait.

if you do happen to find one for less than $300 you'd be wise to resell it for a profit.

I forgot to mention that I would be willing to trade a Gateway laptop for a Ruger LCP. (This way, I won't have to argue with the wife over the money).

It's a spare laptop I have and do not need. I never use it. Everything is in good working order, it has wireless G built in, Intel Centrino Processor at 1.6Ghz, 512Mb RAM, 60Gb Hard Drive. It has a fresh install of WinXP, and it is up-to-date on all updates. The battery holds a charge fine, although it is slightly weak and will only last a couple hours. I do have the charger for it.

Looks like this laptop sells on Ebay for $280 - $350, so it should be a pretty even trade...

If you'd be willing on taking this for trade, let me know.

One of the larger vendors at Market Hall had several for $369. Still a bit steep for me; they are definitely coming down (the only ones around were $399 two months ago).

They've at least gotten down to MSRP or slightly less on Gunbroker. I was thinking about going to the show last weekend to look for one but I'm glad I didn't.

I am on the bullet trap wait list. Been on it for a couple months. Last I checked I was number 32 in line. I paid 279 for it. Put down a deposit of 80 bucks to get on the darned list. Now I just hope they go in order and don't play games for their buddies.

EDIT...I just called them. I am now number 24 in the list. They are getting 2 or 3 a week. The list is at 60 something...they basically said nobody expected this thing to be so popular. Including Ruger. He also said Ruger has recently acquired some new equipment that will greatly speed up production.
