Disney inserts loophole in Florida parking-lot law

Post by seamusTX »

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/breakin ... 92379.html

According to an internal memo that the Miami Herald obtained, the management of Disney World thinks that the new Florida car-carry law does not apply to the facility.
... the bill states that property owned or leased by an employer who has a permit required by federal law to manufacture, use, store or move explosives would still be off limits. Disney has a permit for its fireworks shows.
We need to watch out for stuff like this.

A better subject heading would be "Disney Lobbyists Get Loophole Inserted into Florida Parking-Lot Law to Exempt Disney" since they are the ones who had the loophole put in in the first place.

One step at a time. Our own CHL originally banned citizens from defending their families at Astroworld and other amusement parks.

AstroWorld is gone (and little lamented), but CHLs are still prohibited at Six Flags.

At least Six Flags has metal detectors. Maybe they even work.

We can learn from the experiences of other states. Some of the proposals that I have seen contain very objectionable (IMHO) requiments such as forcing employees with CHLs to inform their employers of that fact, or requiring them to park in special areas.

Banning car carry at places that have explosives on the premises is idiotic. A car or truck is filled with hundreds of pounds of gasoline, which can burn and explode, spark plugs, and other ignition sources. I sincerely hope that these places are designed so that they can't be blown up by terrorist or criminal activity.
