Just wondering if anyone had scored 100% PERFEDT SCORE on the chl test?????
either one written or shooting

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade. If you got a perfect or near-perfect score on the CHL test, great! You should always strive to do your best at shooting.

Here's why I wouldn't put a huge amount of concern or significance into getting a perfect score on the CHL proficiency test and why you won't hear or see me bragging, (anymore).

My euphoria on my last CHL profiency test quickly turned sour the moment I stepped on an IPDA range. I used to think I was a good shot, but I learned I have a lot of work ahead of me before I can use that term honestly.

There's a world of difference between a timed test at fairly close range and the pressure of drawing while standing, moving, or sitting, trying to shoot BG's without hitting good guys, keeping track of bullets fired, swapping out mags behind cover, shooting with your strong hand only, shooting with your weak hand only, shooting while carrying a "wounded person", (the scenarios are unlimited) - all while competing against the other shooters for the lowest time. Now that's what I call a good test of the type of shooting skills I consider to be very important.

Keep practicing and if you haven't tried IDPA, what are you waiting for? It's a lot of fun and very challenging.

I agree 100%. I was amazed at how different it was for me when I took a class on "real world" situations. I do believe that if you carry a CHL - you should take classes in these types of situations. It was a real eye opener.

That being said... I scored: 250 proficiency and 96 on the CHL written exam. (After a 12 hour class - towards the end I swear Charlie Brown's teacher was talking.... I was getting tired...)

I missed one question (I got the tricky one right). We were doing the qual and I had a perfect score going until the instructor pointed it out. Then I threw a 4 & a 3. DON'T TELL ME!

I've taken a basic and intermediate tactical handgun class since then. Had a lot of fun and learned a lot.

I scored 100% on the written each time I've taken it . . . though on a few of the questions, I guessed. (For example, who cares if a violation will cost you your license for 30 days or 90 days? I would think the more important thing is KNOWING what constitutes a violation.)

The first time, I "scored" a 249 on the shooting test . . . nice group, but one stray round WAY outside. Puzzled me no end until I found out the woman qualifying in the next lane was "missing" a few holes from her target.

Second time, I greatly annoyed (seriously, he was MOST unhappy) the instructor by shooting a "smiley face" in the silhouette's head at the 3-yard line. (Still using the old targets & old scoring system then.)

Last time, I got sloppy and let a few rounds stray into the 9-ring.

. . . Keep practicing and if you haven't tried IDPA, what are you waiting for? It's a lot of fun and very challenging.

I used to shoot IDPA, but there were problems with the local range owner ("Crazy Richard") and now the closest matches are halfway to San Antonio.

Perfect 250 here on the shooting quals. Also got a 100 on the test. Really wasn't hard, but then again I was soo excited I could have memorized a dictionary.

Shooting Test...249, had on flyer at 15 yards. i knew when I did it. I missed a perfect score by about 2 inches!

I missed one question on the written but did shoot a perfect shoot. But then again I don't think either are hard as they should be. I know people that have very limited shooting experiecence and passed with no problem. I kind of feel that it wouldn't be a bad idea if they switched up the shooting a little. Maybe they could add soem one hand shooting both strong and weak side.

On my renewal I got 100% on the written
Shot 250 with my Taurus Mil Pro PT145.

You can shoot strong and weak handed if you like. I qualified one handed. That was how I learned to shoot.
