Will I get a red flag being processed for CHL?

Post by Jasheeky »

I usually post in the June Applicants thread in the Waiting Room section. i got a letter in the mail from CHL dept asking for proof of citizenship since i was born in Canada

so i made a copy of my certificate of citzenship :rules: same day and sent it back to austin certified. they got it saturday. im going to call them monday.

Now. suppose my name was Harris John Doe (harris being a family name, siblings have same first name) as written on my birth certificate...
But my school records since kindergarten say John Harris Doe, my DL says John Harris Doe, my social security says John Harris Doe, but legally (birth certificate and citizenship) i am Harris John Doe... will i have problem with getting my CHL?

i mean my school, DPS for driving, or social security never cared.

I would think (now there is something I don't say on a Sunday Morning) that as long as your DL matches your CHL info, you should be alright. They are looking for proof of citizenship and that is what you gave them.

If you were able to obtain your Texas DL with minimal problem then you should be ok. I remember bringing a 'certified' (ink stamped) birth certificate, my former NYS DL, and SS card....after standing in line for 45 minutes I was denied issue of a DL because the stamp on my BC was not raised. I drove home, busted open one of my college diplomas and brought it back because it had a raised stamp and 'proved' who I was.... gotta love Homeland Security. Good luck and keep us posted. As a parallel plan...you may want to PM Charles Cotton to see if he has more insight into this.

Good luck! It should all work out for ya!

I suspect you are just one of thousands of people who have messed up names.
Most orientals now here have reversed first and last name positions and others do as well.
You do not have to be oriental to have name problems, my wife has been trying for over 30 years to get her SS and ID cards to show the same last name.
