My dad; Hurricane Ike

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

My dad; Hurricane Ike

Post by Venus Pax »

My dad, in his "wisdom", decided to return to Orange County, which is under a mandatory evacuation, to secure some things in his house.

He had made it to a safe area with my grandmother, step-mom, youngest sister and the dog. I was actually calling to let him know we were safe (we got out much later), and discovered at that time that he & the dog had returned. I was so disappointed in him, and told him so. I told him to go back to Conroe, but he said that the weather was already starting to stir, and it was too late.

Please keep him in your prayers, as well as all others that are going to be dealing with the effects of Hurricane Ike. From watching the news, I understand that some Galveston residents are trapped in. It looks a lot worse than what we thought a few days ago; I don't think most SE Texas residents were prepared for something this bad.

I think a large portion of this forum are evacuees (or should be); please lift us up in your prayers.

I hope your dad is safe and dry.

Tonight I'm praying for everyone who needs shelter from the storm.

I have been praying for everyone on the coast all afternoon that they would get out safe and I will definitely remember you father in prayer, also.

I got word the following day, but was unable to use a computer until now. (I'm at a library near Corpus at this time.)

Dad is fine; they got some bad wind, but no major damage.

Bridge City, where my in-laws live and own a business, was mostly wiped out, as was Orange. My in-laws got 4 feet of water in their house. My mom got over 4 feet in a rent house she owns. Some residents there got as much as 9 feet. What's sad is that many people there were home. They had just evacuated for Gustav, and couldn't afford two evacuations in one paycheck.

Thanks for praying for my dad. Please continue to pray for those affected; they will need our prayers.

Hopefully, we'll hear from Seamus soon.

Thanks for the report. I just got back online last night and am playing catch-up.

Glad your dad is okay, and glad you and Mars were safe and sound. You were right to give your father a few words; that was a chancy thing to do.

Prayers continue for those severely affected by the storm.
