Took my CHL class on Saturday...

Post by Woody »

It wasn't as boring as I thought it was gonna be. Scored 100% on my firing profeciency and 92% on my written (2 Q's missed....I can't believe I missed 2 questions  )

Anyway, I mailed my packet off on May 2nd...so we'll see how long it takes. I had already filled out the online application and paid the fee a long time ago. We'll see if that speeds the process up or not.

Now I just hurry up and wait. (2 days and counting.......)

Haha. don't listen to him. He's "special"

I think it really depends on how big the pile of apps is when yours arrives. Mine sat for 2 weeks after it was delivered before it was entered into the system. I know because I sent it registered mail.
I also filled out the app and paid online. Made no difference whatsoever in wait time.

letter from dps

Congrats Woody!! I mailed mine in April 25 2005 and applied online back March 2 like you did. I wrote Krystel Burton with DPS and this is the reponse I got. ( At this time our office is currently behind in entering applications. We are still entering applications we received the first week in April. Your application has not made it into our system at this time. It will take the full 60 days for us to process your application. Thank you and have a nice day.) Just for the record post when you get yours and I will do the same :)

Howdy

Hello all. I took my CHL class Sat. also. I got 100% on the written but 244 on the shooting. All 5's but 2, one gut shot (4) and one "warning shot" over the left shoulder  Overall I was satisfied with a rented Colt Gov. 1911, hey it was the first time I have ever fired a .45 :D

Just need to mail it in and the wait is on.

Quote: "warning shot" over the left shoulder

The abbreviation used at our place for those is "IBs" - innocent bystanders. :!:

Edited to add: Jacob, ' just noticed ya numero uno post. Welcome to the forum. And don't feel lonesome about with the loose round. I had to flunk a 21-year old once who was taking CHL test and used Colt Gold Cup to plant one between his feet ...

I only got a 246 on my last qual, which was a bummer because I snapped a shot off to the left three different times.

OTOH, my wife, using my XD9 instead of her PPK/S (which she used the first time) fired a perfect score and I think I may have lost my gun.

Jim, does your wife remind you often that she wooped up on ya?

I shot the one over the shoulder at 15 yards. Kind of got carried away, most ranges will not allow rapid fire. I think I will go rent a .40 tonight and see if I want to get a .40 or .45 in about 60 to 120 days

Hello-FNG here  . Sorry if this belongs elsewhere, but I sent off the stuff on Mar. 7th, and last month received a letter about checking the status online. I checked a few times and got "Processing Application".
Now, I'm getting "No application or license/certificate active". Any idea on what this means? Thanks for any help!

I can't say why but when mine was processing that message seemed to come up occasionally on the weekend. Check Monday evening and see if it still says that. I'll bet it goes back to saying processing application.
