222 extraction problem

Post by CodeJockey »

Hello all! My dad recently gave me a few of his older rifles. One of them is a Revelation 225-Series E in .222 Remington. Anyway, it's in excellent condition except for the fact that the bolt does not always extract the spent shell. I think the extractor must be worn. Does anyone know a competent gunsmith in D/FW that could fix that for me? Also, I have absolutely no idea what I should expect to pay for something. It looks like the extractor is a small brass piece that is pressed in. I would think it could be replaced fairly easily. Any thoughts are appreciated.

As far as I can tell, what you have is a Savage 340.

Description from Blue Book: Model 340 Bolt Action - .22 Hornet, .222 Rem, .223 Rem, or .30-30 Win. 22" or 24" barrel, open sights, 4 or 5 shot mag, 7 1/2 lbs, Plain pistol grip stock. Mfg. 1950-1985.

There was also a model with aperture sights.

The only related part that I see on e-gunparts is the ejector spring.

It was apparently also sold as the Stevens 325, but may not have been offered in .222.

e-gunparts does list more parts for the 325.

And also as the Springfield 840 and there are quite a few parts listed for it.
