How do I get the CHL dept attention?

Post by Bigbore »

I have emailed the CHL site twice and tried to call but can't seem to get a person. They have had my renewal packet for a month and the CHL site still say "Packet mailed to applicant". How do I talk to a person?

Thanks

Keep calling... They are busy these days.
Chances are they are processing your packet, and have not updated the site for awhile, 45 days at a time.

Hope this answers your question.

Call the number listed on the site, and dial O for Operator when you get the choices. You should get someone. I think your social is all they will ask you for. Good luck.

Sounds like someone has ants in their pants (Bigbore). It will take 60 days or longer to get your license. If you made a mistake and want to correct it they will let you know. Patience grasshopper. I know someone who's been waiting 5 months. They just found it stuck to the bottom of something else.

The DPS, CHL division has become a model of arrogance and ineffeciency; and they're getting away with it. Find out who your state senator is and make a formal written complaint. But first be sure he or she is pro gun rights by checking with the NRA. The DPS division of ChL's doesn't give a damn about you and the only way to change it is to compel them to account to our elected representatives. No room for patience here, our rights are being trampled on by bureaucrats.

It took about 32-33 days for my status to change from packet mailed to processing app. This was that many days after my receipt showed they had received it in the office.

Oh please. I have not noticed ANY arrogance. Ineffecient, perhaps.

The OP had only waited a month for renewal. DPS has 45 days. How about we wait unitl they are actually late before we start name calling and jumping to conclusions?

Since we have not heard from Bigbore, I suspect he has license in hand.

Another way to try

Each of the DPS Regional and District offices (those located in larger cities) has a Trooper who is assigned to do CHL investigations. Since BigBore lives near Houston, call the Houston DPS Regional Office on US290 near Jersey Village and ask for the CHL Trooper. Explain your situation and ask if he (or she as the case may be) could assist you. It might work.

How to get DPS CHL sections attention?

Comit a felony, that is guaranteed to get their attention. ;-)
