German man loses firearm license

Germany has states. Berlin is a state. (I'm referring to the forum section. I didn't know where else to put this.)

A German man had his firearm license revoked by a court after he was found to keep a loaded revolver under his pillow.

The basis of the revocation was that the firearm was not in his control and could be used by an unauthorized person.

Police had searched the man's home after he threatened to throw a hand grenade if the city council approved plans to build a high-voltage power line in his neighborhood.

I am actually surprised we haven't seen some of that here in the US. The Brady Bunch must be asleep at the wheel.........

Specifically, gun under pillow or otherwise not properly secured while you are away from your home.

More reason to have a good quality Gun Safe if you have more than one gun.

Could actually be applied to leaving a gun locked in your car (not being reasonably secured).

Mandatory safe-storage laws are high on the anti-RKBA agenda.

I think they figured out that the average guy can afford a shotgun or rifle, but doesn't want to spend another $1,000 on a safe, the space that it takes up, and the difficulty in storing it.

They have not been able to get it through Congress or any state legislature, AFAIK.

How did that happen? I don't know. Maybe the majority of legislators aren't complete idiots. Maybe the NRA and state associations played a role.

This rhetoric is all right and noble, but legislators understand that only the law-abiding obey laws. Therefore the legislatures make laws that only the law-abiding will obey.

Gang-bangers and lunatics will continue to leave weapons where kids can get them, and will pay no great price for doing so.

Since when is something locked in my house, and locked in my car, not being reasonably secured?

Look how congress and the courts have interpreted "shall not be infringed" for a clue.
