Wow, thats really stable.. I figured it would fly out of control with the recoil, it moved around quite a bit but nothing like I expected..

Doesnt look just all that safe though..

That's pretty cool.

From what I understand remote control helicopters aren't that easy to fly.

Very cool.

I wonder if there are any laws against the robotic use of firearms?

as long as the robot "felt" he was in "fear" of his "life."

I had a real helicopter pilot tell me that they are more complicated than that real thing. After he crash one and lost about 2k in one he said he would stick to the real thing.

I cant say if they are harder to fly than a real one, but yeah they are hard to fly.. Thats why I was amazed with how stable it was with the recoil of the gun.

It doesnt matter how long you've been flying a R/C heli, you will crash it.. I had a few when I was younger, I was decent, but they spent more time broke than ready to fly..

Some guys compare it to trying to balance 3 tennis balls, while walking. I never found it that hard, but close..

My late friend, Dick Aggers (KI2S) had a Rube Goldberg machine he styled a "chopper qualifier." It was a very slightly convex plate about 18 inches in diameter connected to a joystick in such a way that twisting and tilting the joystick caused a mirror reaction. The object of the contraption was for you to place a ball in the center and then keep it from falling off. If you could do so, he would let you fly his R/C, maybe, if you could keep a regular R/C plane in the air while doing aerobatics, if, if, if.

I was never able to accomplish the feat, but saw Dick do it a couple of times when he barely allowed the ball to move off the center.

Sounds like that would be a fun toy actually  I dont think I'd want to fly anyone's R/C, because I dont want to pay to fix it LOL.. I've had a few R/C airplanes too, never cared to much for them. They are fun, but just real hard to see. The large R/C planes just cost way more than I want to spend, same with the heli's..

I've messed with a few R/C helicopter sims, although it's not real, if anyone wants a idea of what it's like, just do a search and you can normally find a demo. They aren't a lot of fun once you get the hang of it, not a lot of flying room, but learning how to just hover can be interesting.. Nobody will let me in the cockpit of anything, so I play a lot of flight sims, the heli is always my favorite  I'd love to try the real thing..

They have gotten easier to fly over the last 10 years or so with the incorporation of digital servos, heading hold gyros and computer radios. Also the bigger heli's (like the one in the video) are more stable than the small electric ones.

This is what I'm into, and no it is not cheaper than the gun addiction.

I suspect that this guy might be getting some unwanted attention from the local LEO. I also suspect somewhere in the next month or so some teenager will severely injure themselves or someone else attempting to duplicate this. A pistol mounted on an R/C helicopter, combined with an onboard camera, would make a pretty effective weapon platform if it werent for the exhaust noise from the helicopter.

Regarding the difficulty of piloting R/C helicopters, I have one that I purchased about 2 years ago. Ive only flown it 3 times because each time I crashed it and caused 2-3 hundred dollars in damage. Its been sitting in my garage since. Thats also why I gave up R/C cars - the cost to repair them after a crash them is outrageous, especially when you have put a fortune into all the upgrades available for them - it becomes a new form of crack when you walk into the hobby store and see all the neat things that will make it go faster. Sorry Keith!

I just can't imagine a holster that would conceal that thing. :thumbs2:
