Short Barreled Rifle

OK I'm really confused.

I want to form a living trust and then use that to get a shorter barrel for my Robinson XCR. Is there a certain way to set up the living trust? Doesn't Quicken Will Maker work? Is there any verbage I should be using in the living trust or should I just follow the on-screen instructions?

On the Form 1 should I say that the application is being sent in by a corporation/ business? Under applicants name and mailing address should I just use my own?

What about the spot where I have to state why I intend to make the firearm? Should I just put "recreational use"?

After I am done do I just send the Form 1 and a copy of my Living Trust to the ATF with my check for $200?

Also what about the engraving? As I understand it since I am doing this to a rifle that is fully built as is no additional engraving is needed?

For the purposes I just put "Collection".

Class 3 weapons are a different breed. Only ways I have heard is either go the long involved way through the BATFE approval process, or buy the weapons under articles of incorporation. I would Google the matter though as I also have very little details on the paper work to obtain SBRs, supressors, and AOWs.

In fact, if I tried, I think you'd probably have more questions, so I'm just going to refer you to AR15.com, specifically to the Class 3 section, which would give you a plethora of information about select fire and SBR firearms.

Filling out a trust with Quicken Will Maker may feasibly work, but if I were you, I'd be more comfortable enlisting the assistance of an attorney. Just my opinion. There is another thread on this forum where someone asked for references for a lawyer who could set up a living trust, but it's late and I don't have the wherewithal to do that search atm, hehe. AR-15.com may be a good source for an attorney to create such a trust. I've had three people recently ask me about setting up a trust. We don't do wills/estates and the two guys I refer those matters to won't touch it. It's not that they are anti-gun at all, they just don't know federal or state law on NFA weapons and they fear making a mistake that creates a major problem for the clients and/or their heirs. Both of those guys said they would call some of their friends and see if they do trusts for NFA weapons, but I haven't heard a thing.

Best wishes. I looked into a trust for suppressors some time ago but decided to go a different route. If you have the time, I would be interested in hearing your experiences jumping through the hoops to make a SBR in Houston.

I'm currently going through the SBR hoops, but doing so as a corporation. I've been waiting about two months now, but the ATF says that they're moving along nicely in my application. Corporation or Trust is definitely the way to go in Houston. Chief LEO would never sign off on it, imo.
