There is a highly educated, well paid (by the taxpayers) young, Texas born, FUMC going guy in our little town who gives new meaning to the phrase "yellow dog democrat". We don't discuss guns and politics anymore. One reason is that he doesn't believe Barack and Sarah, et al, are referring to his semi-auto shotguns and .22's. He's all for the AWB and ammo registration because it will help 'get criminals off the street'. A classic case of the highly educated being led blindly by the misdirected...and they are everywhere.

If this is true and the Republican Party does not stand up for 2A rights I will abandon them. I see no reason to vote for a party that will not do what I elected them for. Besides, what is the difference in the two parties anyway? The whole idea of bipartisanship and inclusion is nothing more than an attempt by the Republican Party to get moderate and leftist’s votes. It is not about protecting our rights or doing what is best for this nation. It is about their power. I have no loyalty to any party and don't care who is in power as long as they conserve the nation and our Constitutional rights.

This is just like McCain being their candidate. We have the decision of voting for open liberals or a closet liberals. They either turn right or their Party can integrate itself into the Dem party. Then we can all give up our rights and prosperity and live the easy life until we crumble like the Europeans are. What do we really care that our children will be forced into servitude and squallier? We most likely won’t have to pay the price.

That is exactly why I don't care to refer to myself as a Democrat or a Republican (or vice versa). I have found that on some things I agree with one particular platform, and on others, the opposite. However, for the last 3 administrations I have not been supportive of either.

The Republicans have become the party of big-government and big-business. The Democrats have become, ummm...the Democrats.

What are we fed up types going to do about it? I don't think we will be able to rebuild the party, the Rhino's are deeply entrenched.

That's why I said the "New Republican Party." Taking on an entirely new name will never fly; you need name recognition, so steal the old Republican Party's.

We need a "Neither Party" - neither democrat nor republican, made up of honest folks loyal to the Constitution and working for the good of the nation.

If I had my druthers, I'd vote to call it the "Patriot Party."

But then again, "Neither Party" would probably work just as well.

We have a party that is very much like that.

Unfortunately since they tend to want to stick to the Constitution, they get wrapped around the axle on issues like legalizing drugs, and strict protectionist border, defense and trade policies. Plus, since most modern Americans and politicians do not really know what the Constitution says, whenever anyone tries to point out that Congress has to declare war, or that you have to be a Natural Born Citizen in order to be President, etc., then they are easily made to look like walking anachronisms.

I think we have to face it: most Americans don't really want our Constitution anymore. They are far too many generations removed from any memory of what the country could be like if we just stuck to it, so they don't see the value.

Well, here's the update...

I've had a full day to stew over this, and I am glad I made a few people squirm a little bit by just making the comment...

First off, I have done my best to voice my opinions and ideas and have been very active in the party that for the most part (and in the past that agreed with me, not the other way around)...

Last night I asked why, and I showed this to the Chairman the link from "this" website...

Needless to say they do not have an answer...

So I made the general statement...

If this party is not going to adhere to a very basic, individual, inalienable, personal freedom and responsibility issue that at the least empowers the citizenry, and put into the most powerful position in our party, and does not recognize, and more importantly understand the meaning and importance of the Second Amendment...

I have no use for that person...

If the party continues to moderate and try to appease to "groups" in pushing moderate to liberal candidates against the party base and the very attentive grassroots people in this country...This party is technically done...Stick a fork in it...

I for one would not blame the NRA one bit for stepping off the Republican Party as a whole for any real or substantive action on the behalf of the entire country on this issue...

Its not like the bread has been buttered very well for anyone for a long time in this relationship...And our rights have been on life-support, hoping someone like Obama would not come along a woo the intelletually lazy people in this country too much...But all that is water under the bridge...

See, to me our right to keep and bear arms is a really simple issue...And it should be at the least be left alone...

I have a very low sense of confidence in the party leadership at this time...I can only hope that a message starts resonating upstream and those people in the leadership start feeling very uncomfortable witrh the way things are going...

We need to stop socializing, and get to work in reaching out to the non-traditional Republican voters and get a few seats back at the very least for the sake of our core values...

BTW, I am on the "outreach committee" and we talked about some ideas, some of which is right down the straight and narrow on what I bring to the table...

I do not believe this is a game anymore...And there are some people that had better start paying attention to this issue...
