I'm Back! Trip sucessful

Post by dws1117 »

Just got back home about an hour ago. We spent 4 days at out place outside of Nacgdoches then drove to Atlanta, GA. last Thursday and arrived home late evening today.

Trip went without any hitches. Had my Glock and Kel-tec on my side and in pocket the whole time where it was legal. We stayed the night in Meridian, MS. going and coming.

We weren't stopped once. In fact we hardly saw any law enforcement the whole trip.

Alabama was the only issue. It probably wasn't necessary, but I e-mailed the Alabama State Police and Alabama's AG for the legality of transporting handguns in that state and kept both replies with my insurance. According to both replies the gun must be in a locked container and not accessible to the driver (in trunk). If the vehicle doesn't have a trunk (SUV) then the gun must be in a locked container and any ammunition stored seperately.

Could have obtained a NH permit, but since I plan on going to Alabama almost never I decided it was more worth it to me to spend the $20 on ammo.

BTW, this forum has gotten dang busy. I had like 4 pages of new posts in a little over a week. It's going to take me another week just to catch up. :willynilly:

My Solution to Alabama

Post by tomneal »

It's pretty easy (and Cheep) to get a New Hampshire CHL and it's good in Alabama.

$20 and about 2 weeks turnaround time.

They need a copy of your Texas CHL.
See you at the range
NRA Life, TSRA Life, USPSA Life, Mensa (not worth $50 per year so it's expired)
