Louisiana CHL laws ???

I'll be traveling to the LA State IDPA Match in a couple weeks and wondered if anyone was aware of any odd differences between TX CHL laws -VS- LA CHL laws.

I'll probably do this one by motorcycle if the weather is dry and temps don't drop below 40F (its only about 100 miles from my house

So the plan is ride over to Shreveport, spend the night in motel, go shoot match all day Sat, spend 2nd night in said motel, then take nice ride slow ride through the East TX backroads back home on Sunday. IOW, no gamblin', drinkin', cussin, or other such reprobate behavior

In Louisiana, your vehicle is considered an extension of your home. You can carry while in your vehicle. If you do not have a concealed license, you may not legally carry out of or off your vehicle. If you are on a motorcycle and do not have a concealed license, leave it in the motorcycle bags.

If you have a license, you may carry concealed. Just note the places that are restricted.

The advice you got is incomplete. There are some differences and peculiarities.
O.C. is legal in the state and there is a preemption law. This is also in the State Constitution.
However, some localities' police may arrest you for O.C. This is primarily in (the former New Orleans).
You will get off, because the DA's won't accept the charges. But, you may earn an arrest record. Stupid? Yes!
Because of some peculiariities in the way the law is written, your Texas C.H.L. may actually be better than a LA license.
Basically, most LEO's don't care. You should have no problem if you behave yourself.
Make sure that your driver's license and your CHL have the same address.
