I have both the C clips and the standard clips. I use the C clips. The seem to hold the holster in place better and seem to actually grips the belt rather then just slide over it. you can always upgrade later though if you find them lacking.TheArmedFarmer wrote:Belay that question. I found on their website all the information about the clips. I'm going with the standard clips!

Highnoon holsters make the tab the exact length of the slide (each holster is gun specific) and the slide is actually imprinted in the leather as well. I've got 2 and in the summer I really appreciate not having the slide on my skin....

I'll second that.casingpoint wrote:http://www.kirkpatrickleather.com/product/h_txc.htm

I haven't tried their IWB, but I've had a Kirkpatrick holster, belt, and mag pouch for ten or so years. I currently have another holster, belt, and two mag pouches on order that I'm expecting any time.
Their workmanship, material, and service are second to none. (Well, service maybe second to Rob at Tucker Gunleather. He is hard to beat.)
Price is very reasonable. Not cheap, but seems to be less expensive than what you'd pay for a similar product of similar quality somewhere else.
And they're made in Texas.

Re: A better IWB holster?
My comp-tac minotaur arrived today, and I'm wearing it right now. First impressions:
1) It is unbelievably comfortable. I hardly feel like I'm wearing a holster, which is great.
2) There is a loose fit. If I hold the holster upside down, the pistol falls out. Tightening the screws helped some, but not enough.
Regarding item #2, I was expecting that the Kydex material would make it extremely tight fitting, so I was surprised at this. Has anyone else seen that happen? Any ideas on what to do?

Re: A better IWB holster?
If you can't get the holster to retain the gun by tightening the retention screws, something is not right. One possibility is that you were shipped a model for a different gun. My suggestion would be to call CompTac and describe the problem. They're friendly on the phone and quick to resolve any issues.TheArmedFarmer wrote:My comp-tac minotaur arrived today, and I'm wearing it right now. First impressions:

Thanks Excaliber, I'll call them in the morning and will post the results here.
Other than the fitting issue, I love this holster. It's definitely a winner and I'm glad it was recommended to me.

Mine did that at first as well. But to really test I did a hand stand while wearing it and my Beretta stayed put. Over time though it got better.TheArmedFarmer wrote:Thanks Excaliber, I'll call them in the morning and will post the results here.

I have CompTac's Infidel model for the Kimber Ultra Carry, and I had no trouble adjusting the tension screw to achieve reliable retention from the get go.Wildscar wrote:Mine did that at first as well. Re: A better IWB holster?
I talked to Comp-Tac (you're right, they were very friendly and helpful). He advised me that the retention is not like many other holsters. He said you'll find youtube videos of people putting their pistol in a holster and then shake the holster upside down and the pistol stays put. Comp-Tac holsters aren't designed to do that.
He said the largest part of the retention comes from the belt securing the pistol in the holster.
So, I experimented a bit, tightened the screws a little and then put the holster on. He's correct that with the belt there is good retention (although I haven't attempted running or standing on my head to test it yet, but I will).
